Glass Room & The Outdoor Runs

The piece de resistance is the “Glass Room” enclosure: an extension into the garden for the cats safe outdoor containment and daily play/living area. As the Cat Shack integrates with the Glass Room, it enables us to accommodate the boys and girls in a comfortable indoor area whilst they get to know one another, before getting down to the serious business of making kittens.

The Glass Room is accessible and visible from the kitchen and main living areas of the house, so the “activities” of making kittens were under intense (but not obvious) scrutiny by us, which gave us the ability to know exactly to what extent and when these “activities” occurred. This means pinpoint accuracy when determining kittening times and with our (to date) 4 out of 5 litters born on the day they were calculated to be due, enables our Queens’ nursing staff (us) to be on hand, on time, without any guess work.

The Glass Room provides a comfortable area for cats to be cats, laze in the sun, loll safely in the shade of the grapevine and watch and interact with the wildlife, without exposing the wildlife to threat. Kittens can play, climb the giant cat tree house, observe the garden from safe places and continue to grow their confidence in the wider world when exploring the interactive toys and structures brought in at the appropriate stages of development.
